I was in Kyiv on the night of June 17 โ and I will never forget it.
The sirens began around 11 p.m. and continued into the early morning hours. By 4 a.m., the first explosions shook the city. Buildings crumbled. Fires broke out. People screamed in the dark.
This was one of the deadliest russian attacks in recent months. ๐ฅ At least 27 people were killed in Kyiv. ๐ Over 130 were injured, some buried under rubble in their own homes. Entire apartment buildings were leveled, families left with nothing but ash and fear.
That night, I didnโt sleep. With each new blast, I prayed we wouldnโt be next.
Odesa Was Also Targeted
While Kyiv burned, Odesa was also struck by missiles and drones. At least 1 person was killed, and 17 others were injured in the southern port city. These were residential and public areas โ not military targets.
This attack reminded all of us that no region in Ukraine is truly safe.
But Even in Darkness, Ukrainians Stand Tall
๐ What I witnessed in those early hours was not just destruction โ it was resilience.
Neighbors helped one another down dark, smoke-filled stairwells. Volunteers cleared debris with their bare hands. Doctors, despite limited resources, treated patients for hours without pause.
Ukrainians refuse to break.
Ukraine Support in Action: 5 Emergency Projects
To help those affected by the June 17 strike, HelpingUkraine.us is raising funds for five urgent relief efforts:

๐ Ambulances to safely transport the wounded from frontlines and destroyed homes
๐ง Surgical Tools for under-resourced hospitals
๐ School Supplies for displaced children in cities like Kharkiv and Dnipro
๐ก๏ธ Protective Gear (helmets and vests) for local civilian defenders

How Americans Can Support Ukraine Now
๐บ๐ธ Even if youโve never lived through war, you understand compassion. You know how powerful it is when someone chooses to care โ and to act.
Ukraine support is needed now more than ever.

When the missiles fell, people in Kyiv didnโt ask why. They asked who needs help.
Letโs answer the same way.
Thank you for standing with Ukraine.
