DECEMBER 12TH, 2023 — Following an exciting week for HelpingUkraine.us, the organization is thrilled to announce a $50,000 matching fund until the end of the year. Last week, Ukrainian team members, Dr. Olha Paliychuk of Cherkasy Hospital and Cherkasy Rotary Club, and Marina Serdichenko of Odesa People’s Church and the Good Samaritan Foundation were in Atlanta to meet with the HelpingUkraine.us team and partners here in the States.
The women shared their experiences and updated the team on front line developments and made new requests for supplies. With the help of Olga Gorman, Ukrainian-American and project coordinator for HelpingUkraine.us, we have additional projects we are looking to fund in the before the end of the year.
Within the past week, money was acquired and sent to purchase a vehicle to transport wounded soldiers in Adiienka and a deposit was paid to send children to a camp in the mountains in January and February. This camp, organized by Good Samaritan Foundation, is the same camp that HelpingUkraine.us funded this past summer. Team member, Marina Serdichenko, is the director of these camps – which specialize in the rehabbing and therapizing these traumatized children with several mental health professionals on staff.
HelpingUkraine.us also plans to send another sum of funds to the de-occupied territory of Derhachi in the Kharkiv region for a Social Bakery. As we know, Ukraine is often coined the ‘breadbasket of the world,’ and this project is symbolic of that! The bakery will provide bread to more than 3,300 people in the surrounding community. Funds will help purchase baking equipment that will bake a projected 600 loaves each day – creating jobs and opportunities for the locals.
According to founder, Emory Morsberger, “HelpingUkraine.us is going full steam ahead into the new year. With many new projects in the works and others being implemented right now – we are working tirelessly to help those in need.” Please consider a donation at the end of the year, during this season of giving.
